WHERE: Bowens Island Restaurant, Bowens Island

WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

WHY: To support the Independent Transportation Network’s Charleston Trident service, offering door-to-door rides to seniors and visually-impaired adults.

WORTH KNOWING: In addition to oysters, the spread features oysters and chili. The afternoon’s activities also include a silent auction and live country-western music.

WHAT: Zero Oyster Roast

WHERE: Zero George Street Hotel, 0 George St.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5 -8 p.m.

WHY: The new boutique hotel has never before thrown an oyster roast.

WORTH KNOWING: Hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails are included in the price, but a cash bar will be open to serve folks who’d rather drink something else. Reservations are required.

WHAT: The 8th Annual Oyster Shindig

WHY: To raise money for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, allowing families in need of financial assistance to participate in YMCA programming.

WORTH KNOWING: Each ticket may be redeemed for one free round of golf.

WHAT: The 4th Annual Shuckin’ for a Cause

WHY: To raise money for FamilyCorps, a private, nonprofit organization that strengthens families by supporting parents and other caregivers.
