WHAT: Weekly Thursday Night Oyster Roast

WHERE: 82 Queen

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 7-Thursday, Dec. 12

WHY: “Back in the day, our courtyard raw-bar was a staple for oysters and we thought we would bring back a little of our roots,” Jonathan Kish, CFO of 82 Queen, is quoted as saying in a release.

WORTH KNOWING: The restaurant will host a four-course finale party on Friday, Dec. 13. For more details or to reserve a seat, call  Johnny Williams at 723-7591.

COST: $11 buys a bucket of oysters.



WHAT: The 8th Annual Oyster Shindig

WHERE: The Pine Forest Club, 1000 Congressional Blvd., Summerville

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 15, 6 p.m.–10 p.m.

WHY: To raise money for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, allowing families in need of financial assistance to participate in YMCA programming.

WORTH KNOWING: Each ticket may be redeemed for one free round of golf.

COST: $30 for adults; $15 for children aged 5-12

WHAT: The 4th Annual Shuckin’ for a Cause

WHERE: Isle of Palms Exchange Club, 201 Palm Blvd., Isle of Palms

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 16, 6 p.m.–9 p.m.

WHY: To raise money for FamilyCorps, a private, nonprofit organization that strengthens families by supporting parents and other caregivers.

WORTH KNOWING: Your ticket also buys you barbecue and two drinks.

COST: $20

WHAT: 10th Annual Benefit Oyster Roast and Silent Auction for Friends of McLeod

WHERE: Bowen’s Island

WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 1, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

WHY: The organization needs support to repair the interiors of McLeod Plantation’s 13 buildings.

WORTH KNOWING: According to a press release, “Weʼve been doing this successfully for ten years now so you know it will be good.”

COST: $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
