BLU is the latest Charleston area restaurant to add Saturday brunch to its schedule.
The brunch menu – available on both Saturday and Sunday mornings from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. – includes pastrami and hash; blueberry and mascarpone French toast; lump crab benedict and smoked salmon salad. Prices range from $8-$14 for entrees. Drink wise, there are mimosa specials and a bloody Mary bar.

In case drinkers need more incentive to hoist a pint during St. Patrick’s Day week, the Folly Association of Businesses is again hosting its holiday pub crawl to raise money for local charities.
The beneficiaries of the Mar. 15 event haven’t yet been announced, but the roster of participating bars and restaurants includes Loggerhead’s, Woody’s, Folly Brew Pub, Drop-In Deli, Planet Follywood, Crab Shack, The Grill and Island Bar, Surfbar, Blu, Rita’s Seaside Grille and Snapper Jack’s.

How do you get a Ferris wheel built? If the wheel’s bound for Folly, you eat hot dogs; cook chili and sample food from 20 area restaurants.
The Taste of Folly Festival on Jan. 25 is a benefit for a group spearheading the effort to return a Ferris wheel to the beach. In addition to the hot dog eating contest and chili cook-off, the sampling event will feature a server Olympics; date auction; live music and a bouncy castle. Continue reading
Surfers Healing, a foundation which promotes treating autistic children by putting them on the front end of a surfboard, is hosting a fundraising breakfast this weekend in Folly Beach.
At The Grill and Island Bar’s “Feed Yourself, Nourish a Soul”, which runs from 9 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday, $10 will buy a breakfast plate. Non-alcoholic drinks are included, but the bar’s also offering $2 mimosas and a $4 bloody Mary bar.
